This can be an intense treatment that targets specific areas of chronic or acute pain. It is intended to break up scar tissue and break up muscle adhesions (bands of rigid and painful muscle tissue) that may be inhibiting circulation which leads to pain and inflammation. This type of massage may cause you a little discomfort or slight pain in those areas that are causing you trouble. "A good pain," is how client's usually describe the feeling while undergoing this treatment. Breathwork will be highly essential during this type of massage. Focused deep breathing promotes blood flow and that is exactly what your muscles need to help break up the adhesions. Do expect to be sore a couple of days after the treatment as the muscles are in a state of recovery but as this subsides the muscles should experience a relief in pain.
